Wonderful week

Tabers and Changs have come to Utah Valley for a short while.  Changs to pick up Justin from his mission, and Tabers for a long awaited visit.  We have really enjoyed our time together and I'll be posting about several of our activities.  Today I am sharing a photo shoot of the girls in the garden.

Do they come any more beautiful?

MAREN'S BIRTHDAY 2010

We celebrated twice.  On Maren's actual birthday we had Chinese sundaes at our house, and the next evening celebrated at their house with family.

5K for Wayne and Robert

Wayne and Robert (Mihu) ran at a benefit for St. Jude's Hospital which costs 1.5 million dollars a day to run. It was early in the morning and we had the wind from Spanish Fork Canyon to endure, but eventually the sun came over the mountains and it warmed up a little. Both men made good time and were pleased to run.

Kailin is off to college

Scrapping today, I ran across this picture of Kailin (and Justin) in 1997--first day of school in Pittsburgh.  And today she is off to Western University.  Time does fly!  Good luck Kailin!!

LABOR DAY DRIVE

Wayne suggested that we do something different this holiday and go for a drive to see something new.  So, we drove to Heber, then to Duchesne, then almost to Price, and then home through the canyon.  About five and a half hours of driving.  We did a circle.  Hit our last stoplight in Heber, and didn't see another one until Springville on the way home. Saw lots of mountain forests, dessert and red rock, climbed summits, went through an indian reservation, saw that Strawberry Reservoire makes Deer Creek look tiny, saw a few trees and scrub oak just barely starting to turn color, passed tons of traffic going the opposite way (going home) and ran into a traffic jam almost at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon.  Its quite a sight, after all that nature, to see the windmills at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon.  Impressive.  Utah is a beautiful state and there are places where you could still shoot a western motion picture.

Some things repeat through generations

I am working on fifty-year-old falling-apart-scrapbooks.  This one--my years at BYU.

Found a picture of myself and friend, Ann Christensen from Meridian, dressed as Indians for a Halloween party/dance.  Remembered a picture of Tory dressed as an Indian at BYU with a whole tribe of squaws.  She is on the back row with the headdress.
